Carl F Mazzu

Carl F. Mazzu, 88, passed away January 26, 2022 at his home in Sarasota, Florida, with his loving partner of 23 years, Kathleen Geraghty by his side.
Carl was born in Niagara Falls, New York on August 9, 1933. At a very young age his family moved to Warren, Pa. where Carl graduated from Warren High School and was drafted into the US Army. After returning from the army, Carl attended Elgin Watchmakers College and returned home to Warren to join the family business, James Jewelers, where he worked until retiring in the year 2000.
Carl was a member of the Conewango Country Club, where he participated in multiple tournaments, even winning a few. He enjoyed multiple sports, including scuba diving around world. He proudly dove with the Cousteau Society, including an expedition over the Titanic and many other water activities. He even participated in a live bomb retrieval while diving off Sarasota with friends, which he and his fellow divers should never have undertaken. Carl most loved hanging out with his friends and hosted many cocktail and dinner parties, which were always very fun and very delicious.
Although Carl was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2012, he remained positive and determined.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents James Sr. and Beatrice Mazzu. He is survived by daughters, Cathi Reynolds, Roxboro, NC and Sharon Nieto, Virginia Beach, Va, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and his brother James Jr. (Jim) Mazzu, of Warren.
There will be no memorial service at this time. Carl would love you to gather with friends and enjoy cocktails, dinner and many robust laughs. Per Carl’s wishes he will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered over the Gulf of Mexico.
