Kathleen Kelly, born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn died peacefully at her home in Sarasota on March 18, 2022 after a long battle with COPD. A 1957 graduate of The Mary Louis Academy, Miss Kelly pursued a career as a legal secretary at the New York intellectual property firm, Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto until her retirement in 2006. The consummate hostess, Kathleen applied her elegance and flair to the design and decoration of her retirement home in North Port, FL where she was an active member of the Cypress Falls community and a volunteer with the Sarasota County Society of St Vincent De Paul. Hoping to spend more time with her brother and sister-in-law, Kathleen moved to Sarasota in 2018. She said it was “the luck of the Irish” that put her with family during the pandemic. She is survived by her brother Patrick Kelly and his wife, Sharlee of Sarasota, FL and was a much beloved aunt to Geraldine Hryniuk, Theresa Prevette, Thomas & Norma Sobylak, Patrick Kelly, Shannon & Eric Peiper, Kelly Gronowski, Deirdre & John Hancock, Susan Gronowski, Sandra Gronowski, David Kelly, Kevin & Stephanie Kelly. She took delight in her dozens of great nieces, nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Your Traditions Funeral Home in Sarasota is handling arrangements. A funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel 425 S Tamiami Trail, Osprey, FL. on Tuesday April 26, 2022 at 10 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at The Fountains at 3240 Lakepoint Boulevard in Sarasota FL 34241. Ms. Kelly will be buried in the Memorial Garden at St. Columbkille Parish in Fort Myers, Florida.
